StreamSCAPES at SGEU Catania

Early July, the StreamSCAPES research team from ULiège travelled to sunny Catania to take part in the prestigious SGEU Conference (ECPR). Our researchers brought fresh insights to the table, sharing cutting-edge findings on how the European Union manages the digital and audiovisual transitions.

The team took an active role in the panel titled "Governing Platforms and AI: Techno-Economic Transformations in the EU’s Digital and Audiovisual Sectors," where they presented two distinct papers exploring the hidden complexities of modern media governance:

• Pauline Bissot & Solenn Houard presented "Sustainability of Streaming Everywhere and Nowhere: The EU’s Blind Spot in the Governance of Video-on-Demand platforms," shedding light on the environmental blind spots of current streaming regulations.
• Marina Rossato Fernandes shared her work on "Governing VOD platforms and AI in European Film Industry: Professionals, Ideas and Framings," analysing how industry professionals shape the intersection of artificial intelligence and platform economics.
